The CERO One Ultimate Electric Cargo Bike

CERO One Cargo Bike | Gearminded.com

The CERO One is the ultimate compact electric cargo bike, purpose-built to move people and goods. With a customizable 12-way modular cargo system, one-size-fits-most versatility, and top-notch components, it’s a bike that truly delivers.

Often, we talk about being adventure ready, but rarely do we find ourselves in such a fortunate predicament. The CERO One looks to provide this luxury once and for all. From the local work-commute to a weekend among redwoods, this cargo bike literally propels you to seek adventure, even if it’s the only thrill you get for the day. The way I see it, there’s nothing I would rather do than pedal my way to happiness with my gear (yes, I consider my laptop and daily planner to be gear) on board.

Although it’s not an official statement by the brand, I say “CERO” really stands for the amount of traffic you should put up with during the morning commute.

Cargo

CERO One’s modular cargo rack system includes three sturdy aluminum baskets that mount both in the front and rear racks, designed to fit your needs and make your daily life a whole lot easier.

Cargo Loads:

Individual Racks REAR: 55 lbs / 25 kg or FRONT: 55 lbs / 25 kg COMBINED Front and Rear Racks (55 lbs / 25 kg Rear + 22 lbs / 10 kg in Front) or (55 lbs / 25 kg Front + 22 lbs / 10 kg in Rear)

Maximum Load (Rider + cargo): 300 LBS

Failure to follow these limits could damage your bicycle and/or cause an accident and injuries to the rider.

Pedal Assist

The CERO One electric motor gives you a “pedal assist” that provides you with necessary push to ride faster and with less effort. Plus, since your legs are providing the propulsion, you have more control over the bike, which is especially important if you are carrying heavy loads. These types of bikes are sometimes referred to as “pedelecs” and the great news is that you’ll still get a nice workout as you pedal!

The motor will give you pedal assistance up to 20 mph, though technically you can achieve higher speeds on the bike.

Mid Drive Motor

A mid drive motor powers the crank of the bike directly, giving you a boost with each pedaling motion. The system features 3 sensors: speed, cadence and torque sensor, all working in conjunction to give you the most performance when you most need it. Additionally, the mid drive motor is located in the lowest point of the frame, ensuring a good center of gravity and great weight distribution for stable handling.

Battery and Range

With Shimano’s latest-generation, 504Wh battery, the CERO One can travel up to 93 miles on a single charge. The battery range will vary depending on several factors: cargo loads, rider weight, assist mode, terrain, etc., but according to Shimano, you will get anywhere from 44 miles (high mode), to 62 miles (normal mode), and up to 93 miles (eco mode) of range.

The bike comes with a charger that you can connect to any wall plug and you can either connect it directly to battery while mounted on the bike or remove the battery and charge it inside your home. The battery takes 2.5 hours for up to 80% and 5 hours for a 100% charge.

Safety and Security

The CERO One is equipped with standard safety and security feature to give you peace of mind: bright front and rear lights, reflective decals, puncture-resistant tires, and an integrated steel frame lock.

About CERO

At CERO Bikes, the goal is to design high-quality electric cargo bikes that help make our cities a

better place to live. CERO is a family owned and operated business out of Los Angeles California started by Kiyoshi Iwai, who moved from Japan to California over 20 years ago. Kiyoshi, a passionate environmentalist and surfer, witnessed traffic congestion in LA grow unsustainably as climate change rapidly increased. He saw in electric cargo bikes a solution to our modern transportation problem, and partnered with two veteran bicycle engineers to design the CERO One. After a successful crowdfunding campaign, CERO is now shipping direct-to-consumers and via bicycle retailers specializing in electric bikes.

Thank you for this CERO One e-Bike Review. You help me make the decision.
I bought a CERO straight from the company. The people are super nice.
    They’re honest and forthright.
I opted to put the large basket on the front and I can use it to carry my 3 year old beagle.
I like the build quality! They also use all Shimano parts.
If you’re thinking about it, go for it. You’ll be happy.
