Aside from their otherworld sense of smell, dogs have a unique ability to communicate with humans without ever speaking a word. It’s the combination of these traits that allows them to be such effective tools when lives are on-the-line. Colorado is known for its beautiful Rocky Mountains, but with mountains come snow and with snow come avalanches. Breckenridge Resort has a group of 6 dogs and handlers trained specifically to rescue people lost in the woods or buried by an avalanche. These teams are the first line of defense for people when disaster strikes.
