As more and more people discover (or re-discover) a love for mountain biking, we’re going back to basics to help new riders make the most of their mountain biking experience. In this series of five #newbikedays videos, MTB presenter and Shimano Supported Rider Anna Glowinski chats with Chris Gibbs (H+I Adventures lead guide and SHIMANO trained mechanic) to answer the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) about bike maintenance on the internet from new mountain bikers.

Episode 5: How to Maintain Your Mountain Bike Brakes

Levers, pads, rotors, mineral oil… there are various aspects involved in keeping your brakes in good working order, as Anna finds out. Through continued use, your brakes, as with any other parts of your bike, begin to wear out or underperform. This final video aims to give you the know-how and confidence to identify what’s going on with your brakes and to do a bit of maintenance yourself. The benefit of keeping your brakes in top condition is that you’ll have more confidence in and get more enjoyment from your riding.
