Ritchey’s ULTRA Mountain Bike Returns After 30 Years in an Iconic Colorway

Ritchey’s Rough & Rugged ULTRA Mountain Bike Returns After 30 Years in Red, White, and Blue Fade

Ritchey has long been known for its heritage with the mountain bike, from defining the industry with the first production mountain bikes in 1978 to winning world championships under Don Myrah in ’89 and Ruthie Mathis in ’91 to fan-favorite Thomas Frischknecht pushing the sport to new boundaries through the early ’00s. Ritchey has been there.

To celebrate their love affair with mountain bikes, they’re releasing a limited series of Ultras in Team Edition fade; possibly the most recognized Ritchey signature ever.

As of yet, no changes to the geometry have been made to the Ultra; it is still a Boost spaced, dual wheel size, 120mm travel optimized hardtail for as rowdy of a trail as you can throw at it. Shown here finished in our Trail trim of wheels, and cockpit, Ultra is the culmination of over 40 years of MTB experience.

If there’s one thing Tom knows, it’s dirt. When he first designed the Ultra he knew it would appeal to riders who demand specific ride characteristics and dirt slaying only he could deliver- and that was in the 80’s!

Good design withstands the test of time, and the latest iteration of the Ultra is a prime example. Like its predecessor from 30 years prior, the new Ultra occupies a unique ride space from cross-country riders looking to get rowdy and go big to enduro riders lusting for some all-mountain shredding.

Designed around a 120mm travel fork and super stable Boost 148 spacing, most of the fun is in the wheels. Designed to accommodate 29″ or 27.5″ wheels, the Ultra is highly versatile. Throw on some 29s for some trail-smashing XC riding, or saddle up some 27.5+ for some serious no-holds-barred shredding. The Ultra is a rough and rugged trail master that doesn’t know when to quit.
