Gates of the Arctic Traverse

As the most northern park in the U.S., Gates of the Arctic is nearly as large as some small European countries. When planning a trip to such an isolated location think of glaciated valleys and boreal forests rich with wildlife. Oh yeah, don’t come here looking for roads. Fly in or hike, it’s that simple. Six wild rivers run clear through the region making any attempt at a traverse just a bit more tricky.

This experienced crew makes it look easy while they carry on through a planned Traverse from Anaktuvuk to Ambler. Are you ready to plan your next trip to Alaska?

Great trip! I did a 30 day trip to “The Gates” back in the early 90’s after seeing this I may have to go back. I’m glad to see Anaktuvak hasn’t changed! Do they still have the washiteria?
