Kilimanjaro

Directed and produced by Laurence Hills, Kilimanjaro is a short film that documents the most unforgiving filming location Laurence has had the pleasure to visit. The film was shot over 7 days, climbing to the summit of Africa’s tallest mountain and the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. During his journey, he walks from the rich forests brimming with vegetation and wildlife to the arid and lifeless arctic zone at 19,000 feet above sea level.

Aside from its world-class climbing, Mt. Kilimanjaro rests inside Kilimanjaro National Park and is home to over 140 species of wildlife — from monkeys to bats. Additionally, its receding glaciers and volcanic geography make for a prime filming and photography location, a factor Laurence successfully captured along his journey.
