In the small African country of Lesotho, almost half of the country’s two million people live in poverty. The Sufferfest, creator of the world’s best cycling videos for individual and group training, today announced its title sponsorship of the Academy of Cycling Excellence Lesotho Mountain Bike Team, a Union Cyclist International team with a difference, for the third year in a row. The ACE Lesotho MTB Team is the first indigenous African team to be licensed as an International Cycling Union MTB Team and is the first to compete in the World Cup and World Championship level. Just last month, the ACE Lesotho MTB Team positioned themselves in the top half of the teams in the Union Cyclist International Cross Country Olympic team ranking, placing 43 out of 87.

With the help of sponsors like The Sufferfest, a dedicated group of Lesotho athletes have excelled in the sport of cycling and continue to shatter all expectations. On the brink of the RIO 2016 Olympic Games, The Sufferfest’s sponsorship will help the ACE Lesotho MTB Team pursue its goal of qualifying for this summer’s Olympic Games as well as work toward the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
“As soon as we heard the inspiring story of the Lesotho team, we knew we wanted to help,” said David McQuillen, The Sufferfest CEO. “These men and women push through pain, misery and agony so they can experience honor, glory and victory. This is what we built The Sufferfest brand on, and we are honored to serve as the title sponsor for the ACE Lesotho MTB Team for the third year in a row.”
Other goals of the ACE Lesotho MTB Team include participating in at least 15 international quality races in 2016, winning at least three National Championship titles, initiating a grass-roots development program for 100 local children, and providing 365 days of coverage through its website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
“Without the backing of The Sufferfest, we would not be able to participate in any of the races that are so important for our development,” said Mark West, team manager of ACE Lesotho MTB Team. “More importantly, our partnership with The Sufferfest opens doors that would normally remain closed and provides us with a world-wide audience of fans across the globe through the Sufferlandrian community.”
