If you are like me then the thought of the common luggage bag simply makes you cringe. Whether it’s a lack of user-friendly features or missing travel accessories the square rolling bag simply doesn’t cut it. For our travel hungry friends we would like to introduce Boreas Gear and specifically the Sapa Trek Bag.

The Sapa Trek looks very similar to most medium backpacking multi-day packs with its pod like shape. This shape along with the Boreas tri-zip opening allows for a painless loading process. You can choose to load the bag normally with the system mainly zipped or enjoy completely opening the pack and starting from a flat lay. The options for packing and removing gear are truly endless. The internal packing divider and buckle clip function similar to a larger luggage yet with this compact size you can compress more clothing into a single compartment. A back pocket also allows for gear or apparel to be stores separately from the main volume compartment. For wet conditions a waterproof storage pocket keeps your devices dry.

The long-term comfort of the Sapa Trek can be attributed to an extensive EVA panel completely covering your back from the internal contents and overall load. Designed similar to a ribcage this panel absorbs shock and some of the weight bag weight. Additionally, the design does a great job of providing ventilation to keep your back dry. It’s important to note that even great designs such as this one can’t prohibit sweat. The proper apparel in conjunction to this bag can make a drastic difference in moisture retention. It is recommended that you have your Sapa Trek fitted by a professional to ensure that it can be used to its potential given each individual’s unique shape and contour.

From a safety whistle, rain cover, gear loops, waterproof pocket and daisy chain this pack doesn’t miss much. In a final coverage of detail the entire frame of this pack is removable for a complete storage friendly option. We were able to bring this back on multiple weekend excursions in the local mountains as well as on a mountain bike ride and beach camping trip. The versatility is refreshing for those who don’t want to have an excess of gear. If you simply want to bring the Sapa Trek on a plane ride you literally pack away the straps compress the bag and send it on its way. Trust us, this bag is worth throwing over your shoulder.
